Interpreting and Communicating Ideas

Reading and Writing

The book “Academic Writing and Dyslexia: A Visual Guide to Writing at University” aims to be helpful and accessible to dyslexics. However, it contains irrelevant information that makes the book harder to read. The ideas in the book lack innovation and fail to actively address the challenges dyslexics face when reading and writing academic texts. It seems as though the author is deeply entrenched in academic ideas and accepts the shortcomings of academic writing as a given, without attempting to solve the larger problems. For example, the poor quality of academic writing in general.
